2020Supporting Local Businesses & Non-Profits in a Time of Crisis
While the COVID-19 pandemic changes almost daily, we at Morse, of course, are continuing to do all that we can to ensure our clients, neighbors, and staff remain safe and healthy during this historical time. And while this is our priority, as longtime residents and business owners of the North Easton, Norton, Bridgewater, and Marion communities, we are driven to support our neighbors in any way possible during this challenging situation.
As members of these communities yourself, you may be wondering how you can support the town you call home, from your home. Rather than binge watching another Netflix series, you may be looking for a way to give back that goes beyond maintaining a proper social distance. This is why we’ve compiled a list of local non-profits and relief efforts across Southeastern, MA and the Greater Boston area that could benefit from your help.
- Town of Marion Food Pantry
- The Food Pantry at Central Square Congregational Church in Bridgewater
- Saint Vincent DePaul Food Pantry in Bridgewater
- Cupboard of Kindness Food Pantry in Norton
- Easton Food Pantry
- The Massachusetts Emergency Food Assistance Program
- Meals on Wheels America
- The Greater Boston Food Bank
- The Boston Foundation COVID-19 Response Fund
- Women’s Foundation of Boston Response Fund
- The Greg Hill Foundation Restaurant Strong Fund
- Eos Foundation Emergency Children’s Meals Grant Program
- Help United Greater New Bedford COVID-19 Response Fund
If you are looking to support your community in a more direct way, rather than donating to non-profits and relief efforts, we urge you to consider supporting local businesses during this difficult time. While we at Morse remain advocates for flattening the curve by staying home, we also know there are many great ways that you can support your neighbors right from your couch.
- Consider ordering take-out from your favorite restaurants. While the restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, and other community staples remain closed for dining-in, many are offering both delivery and curbside pickup. So, if you’ve been missing your go-to meal at the Gateway Tavern or you’ve been hankering for pizza from Alberto’s, you can order it to go and know that you’re helping to support your neighbors in this trying time.
- Purchase gift cards from businesses that you normally frequent. While practicing good social distancing, if you find yourself missing your favorite hair salon, boutique, restaurant, or beyond – get yourself (or a friend!) a gift card to use when life returns to normal.
- Take advantage of alternative solutions from local businesses. If you’re looking for a more active way to continue supporting your favorite community institutions, consider taking advantage of some of the special services many businesses are offering. In an effort to adapt to social distancing regulations while maintaining their livelihood, many businesses are offering helpful remote services, such as mail-order root touch-up kits from hair salons or online classes through local gyms.
- Donate to small business or local relief efforts. Whether you’re donating money, time, or even just helping to promote drives on social media for the local small businesses that have been hit hard by the pandemic, it takes very little time and energy to support the people and organizations in your community that you love.
There is no business, person, or community that remains untouched by this global pandemic. And while we all continue to do what we can to navigate this difficult time, it is more important than ever to come together as a community. At Morse, we have been lucky enough to work with some incredible small businesses in the area. From artisan contractors to coffee shops, to golf courses, and beyond, we at Morse understand now more than ever the importance of continuing to support our clients, friends, and neighbors.
Whether you’re shopping for summer clothes online at Serendipity by the Sea, ordering your favorite Pad Thai from Chatta Box, donating food to Cupboard of Kindness, or something else entirely – your efforts to support your community are directly benefiting the place that you call home. And while maintaining an adequate social distance is essential during this critical time, we at Morse, of course, want to remind you that continuing to support your community is one of the greatest ways we can make it through these uncertain times.
