Morse Insurance is thrilled to highlight yet another of our exceptional clients- the Dana Barros Basketball Club. Since the grand opening of their Stoughton location in January of 2017, the Dana Barros Basketball Club has become a community staple.
Other than teaching the children about the game of basketball, the main mission of the Dana Barros Basketball Club is to provide a place for kids to learn and grow. To this end, Pete Bosader, President, shared insight into their role in the community.
“Our vision is to provide a safe environment for kids to be able to learn how to play the game of basketball the right way — to be supervised and to have the sport be a part of their lives,” says Pete. “In our curriculum, basketball isn’t just a sport, it teaches you about life, respect, teamwork, and camaraderie. Believe it or not, playing basketball teaches a lot of those things — that’s our underlying component.”
The club offers six-week programs, ranging from ages five all the way through freshman in high school. These programs offer access to clinics running three times a week, as well as open gym access every weekday from 3-4:30pm. If you’re not looking for a full program, there is also a general membership, which just allows access to open gym.
Travis Rhodes, the club’s founder, is from Western Massachusetts and grew up playing basketball through high school and college. Dana Barros, the club’s co-founder, is a Boston native, a member of the Boston College Hall of Fame, and had an incredible 15-year NBA career playing for the Seattle Super sonics and Boston Celtics. By working together, they have the opportunity to share their experience and love for the game with kids from the local communities.
